About the farm and producer

Villa Valentina is named after Gloria’s daughter. It is located in Bruselas, a microregion within Huila, in the southwestern part of Colombia, at the southern edge of the Colombian Coffee Growing Axis. Bruselas is renowned for producing some of Huila’s highest-paid specialty coffees, celebrated for being among Colombia’s sweetest and fruitiest coffees.

Ana Gloria Rodríguez has worked in coffee production for 32 years, but it was only seven years ago that she decided to focus entirely on specialty coffee. After years of cultivating different varieties, she developed a sustainable farm using best practices, avoiding harmful chemicals, and carefully managing her crops. Ana Gloria is also deeply committed to supporting women coffee pickers. She created a project called “Gloriellas,” where coffee is harvested entirely by women, and she pays a premium for their work. Through her dedication to quality, sustainability, and community empowerment, Ana Gloria has become a respected leader in her region’s coffee sector.

About our partner importer

This coffee was sourced through an aligned import partner, Paisa Coffee. We believe that buying coffee with intention and care requires a deep understanding of the culture, local practices, and coffee industry in producing communities. In origins where our team lacks extensive knowledge about the cultural aspects that impact coffee work and how to best create mutually-beneficial business relationships with producers, we work with partner importers who have a greater understanding of these complexities.

This year, in collaboration with Paisa Coffee, we are adding Colombia back to our offerings list. Paisa is a direct trade importer of specialty green coffee grown on single family farms in Colombia. The owner & founder, Yolima Taborda, grew up on Finca La Vega farm in Southwestern Antioquia, and is proud to be able to honor her heritage and share the joy of Colombian coffee with the world!  Kapeh Utz and Paisa have very similar approaches to coffee work and shared priorities of valuing producers’ hard work and creating long-term partnerships. We are also both small, woman-owned businesses! Our team is very excited to be working with Paisa for the first time in 2026.
